Sinclair Nanopigs differ from other swine in ways that affect how their body condition is scored. It has a more “athletic” or “feral” shape with lesser muscle mass, narrower and “angular” back giving the impression of longer limbs. Some Sinclair Nanopigs have a thicker haircoat which interferes with the visual scoring. Therefore, the finger pressure approach is generally more reliable than the visual cues.
The BCS chart available here has been developed specifically for for use when assessing a Sinclair Nanopig.
